Doing 3 sets of 10 to build muscle and spending monotonous hours walking on a treadmill to lean out isn’t how training should be. Our diverse approach not only makes training enjoyable, but also more effective for building muscle, strength, endurance and functionality for your everyday life. In order to build optimally, we will put you through different training methodologies throughout your training to bring you the best results you could ask for.
During this phase, the goal is to build mass to fill out our frame. After this phase when the client cuts back down or starts to lose weight, they will now have more muscle to give a more aesthetic look, which is why most of us start going to the gym for in the first place. In Hypertrophy training your workout will be volume-based, with the goal of chasing a "pump" to increase the overall size of the muscle.
Developing force production and neuromuscular strength. While hypertrophy can help facilitate strength, it isn't the main driving force that makes someone strong. During this phase, we will program heavy weights and low reps. With that, we can cause neural adaptation to become more efficient at communicating with muscles, allowing more muscle fibers to be recruited during exercise ultimately making us stronger. Strength training is an improvement in the coordination of muscles, thereby creating an increase in strength, not size.
While you can look good doing mostly hypertrophy training and low intensity cardio it takes away from the functionality of the way our bodies are meant to move. Bending, twisting, hinging, jumping, pushing, and pulling in all planes of motion is our goal. Nothing we lift or move in life is perfect so why would we want to lift on a machine with a strict range of motion for the rest of our life? Not only does this make training more interesting but it also prepares us for when we may find ourselves in uncompromised positions in life. For example: we are always taught to lift with a flat back, which is mostly true, but why wouldn't we also bulletproof our back by exposing ourselves to rounded back movements letting us tolerate more stress for everyday life?
Look good? That's great. Feel strong? Even better. Being able to complete a task with the strength and power needed without fatigue is irreplaceable and is a staple part of our programming. Using a mixture of monostructural zone heart rate work, metabolic conditioning, tempos, intervals, and lactate clearance/tolerance work, your coach will make you an unstoppable force giving you the feeling you can do anything the world throws at you.
Nutrition is the foundation that pulls everything together. Teaching the fundamentals of fueling the body instead of starving is how we see so much success in our program. With a less aggressive approach in our system, we make sure that our clients build a healthy relationship with food so they yield results that last a lifetime.
